Mounting Instructions:
The Easy On
Off Van Rack with hard mount option is designed to mount to the roof of an Astro
Van and fasten to the two cross ribs inside the van. Proper assembly of the rack
is very important, as there are slight differences in either end of the rack.
The rack must be assembled properly to assure a secure mounting to the van roof.
Tools required to do the Installation: (2) ½” hand wrenches, ratchet with ½” socket,
center punch, hand drill with 3/8” drill bit. Three templates have been provided
to properly locate the mounting holes for both the front and rear areas of the
ladder rack. You will be drilling through the roof from the inside of the van
to locate the rack foot mounting holes. Start the rear of the van, first locate
the cross beam in the area indicated in the Fig. 2. Using template “A”, place
the bracket to the beam as shown, snug to the side of the van sheet metal, mark
through the holes and move on to the other side. This one template will locate
all four holes for the rack rear. With all four holes marked, center punch and
drill through using a 3/8” drill bit. NOTE: The center to center of the holes
should be 46 ¾”. Check this before drilling. Now move to the front of the van
and locate the beam in the area shown in Fig. 1. Here you will be using templates
“B” & “C”. The template marked “B” is for the curbside of the van and the template
marked “C” is for the street side of the van. Follow the diagram carefully to
make sure the template is in the right place before you mark, punch and drill
through. Again use a 3/8” drill bit. To mount the rack follow Fig. 1 & 2 to assure
you are placing the proper spacers and washers necessary to attach the rack.
