Installation Instructions: PVC Tube Container Kit (PTC10002, PTC10003)

Installation Instructions:
The P.V.C. Tube Container Kit comes with a lockable door assembly, a rear end cap, mounting straps and all necessary hardware to assemble and mount to the rack.  You will need to purchase the P.V.C. Tube cut to your desired length, then mount the door and end cap.  The P.V.C. Tube Container Kit may also be mounted inside a SecureShell or van, and beneath a SecureLid Assembly with slight variations.  First mount the end cap.  Place the end cap over the tube and make sure it is seated.  Use the 1/8" (.125) drill bit to drill through the P.V.C. at the three predrilled holes in the end cap (see fig. 1.)

INSTALLATION TIP: After drilling the first hole, run a #8 self-tapping screw in.  This will prevent the end cap from rotation and assure alignment for the other two holes.  Mount the door assembly.  Place the door unit over the end of the tube and make sure it’s seated.  Use the 7/32" drill bit —drill through the P.V.C. at the three predrilled holes in the door unit.  (see fig.2).

TIP
: After drilling the first hole, place a screw, washer and nut to prevent the door from rotating and assure the alignment of the other two holes.  Tighten all screws and move on to mounting the tube assembly to the rack.  The tube assembly mounts to the underside of the rack end by way of two metal straps ( see fig. 3).  Place two spring nuts inside each rack end channel.  Space the spring nuts to fit the holes in the bracket.  Slip the bracket under the tube and mount to the spring nuts using 5/16- x 1" hex bolts.  Before final tightening, adjust the door to the desired swing (commonly set door swings down).

Note: To prevent the bolts from loosening place a drop of Loktite® on the leading threads before mounting.
Note: The tube is most commonly mounted on center of the ladder rack, however, it can be attached anywhere along the channel. The only consideration is if you place the tube far left or right you may be in conflict with the lid opening, if applicable. Simply open the lid and adjust the tube for clearance.
